Bespoke Aluminum Die Casting for Your Needs

Aluminum die casting is a cold chamber process where molten aluminum is automatically ladled into an unheated injection chamber and forced into a mold under high pressure. Renowned for its exceptional strength and lightweight properties, this process is widely used to manufacture complex components for the automotive, 3C electronics, and aerospace industries.

Choosing the Right Aluminum Alloy for Die-Cast Parts

A380 is the most widely used commercial die-casting alloy. Its affordability, ease of processing, and solid performance make it the top choice for many customers.

However, due to its relatively high copper content, its corrosion resistance is slightly inferior to that of other alloys.

Applications:

  • Automotive components (engine brackets, transmission housings, gearboxes)
  • Consumer electronics housings
  • Power tool and hand tool housings
  • Industrial machinery and pump housings

A383 is an improved version of A380 capable of producing more complex, thin-walled castings. Its higher silicon content provides superior resistance to hot cracking. It can achieve a wall thickness of 1.00-1.5 mm.

Applications:

  • Complex electronic housings and connectors
  • Automotive structural housings
  • Thin-walled industrial components
  • Pump bodies requiring high pressure tightness

A360 offers superior corrosion resistance, along with good castability and solid mechanical strength. It is ideally suited for parts exposed to harsh or marine environments.

Applications:

  • Marine hardware and boat fittings
  • Outdoor equipment and telecommunications enclosures
  • Automotive components requiring high corrosion resistance
  • Consumer appliance housings

A413 features excellent casting fluidity and extremely low shrinkage. It is an ideal choice for producing parts that require tight dimensional tolerances and excellent airtightness (pressure tightness).

Applications:

  • Hydraulic cylinders and pump bodies
  • Automotive transmission housings
  • Heat sinks and thermal management components
  • Architectural and decorative hardware

A390 has a very high silicon content (approximately 17–19%). Its exceptional wear resistance, high hardness, and low coefficient of thermal expansion provide unmatched durability in friction-intensive environments.

Applications:

  • Engine pistons and cylinder liners
  • Air conditioning compressor parts
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic components
  • Heavy-duty wear parts and brake discs

A356 is a heat-treatable Al-Si-Mg alloy renowned for its high strength, excellent ductility, and corrosion resistance, making it the premier lightweight material for automotive and aerospace structural parts.

Applications:

  • Automotive Structural Parts
  • Aerospace Components
  • Marine & Outdoor Equipment

Aluminum Die Casting FAQs

1. How do I choose between A380, A360, and A413 alloys?

Choosing the right alloy depends on your part’s specific requirements:

A380: The cheapest and most popular option. It provides a good balance of mechanical properties and is suitable for general purpose parts not requiring strict corrosion resistance.

A360: Best for tough environments. It is low in copper and has excellent resistance to corrosion.

A413: Suitable for very complex thin-walled parts. The high silicon content gives excellent fluidity and pressure tightness.

Good dimensional accuracy (typically around +/- 0.1mm) is offered by die casting, but it cannot replace high-precision CNC machining entirely. If your part requires highly precise holes, threads or sealing surfaces, we need to leave a machining allowance in the casting process. We provide integrated “Die Casting + CNC Machining” services to ensure your final parts achieve perfect tolerances.

Yes, you can choose zinc alloy, steel, or magnesium for casting parts. Please email us at: mailto:custom@lexhardware.com to submit your inquiry. Thank you.

The lead time depends on the complexity of the part and the order quantity. Once the tooling is completed, production can be finished in as quickly as 7 days. The time required to build the mold will vary depending on its size and structure. Upon receiving your design details, we will provide an accurate delivery schedule.

We have implemented robust quality control measures to ensure consistency and reliability throughout the die casting process. Our Quality Management System is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 standards, demonstrating our commitment to meeting the highest industry benchmarks. Our strict process includes thorough pre-production confirmation, multiple in-process quality inspections, and final photographic verification for customer approval. Additionally, we provide relevant material and industry certificates, and fully support third-party sample testing.
